Good Morning all,
Yesterday I posted a suggested assignment about photographing your new normal. What I am suggesting, is to try telling a story with your drawings or photographs. A visual story can be told with drawings or photographs. In photography it is called a photo essay. and is told through what’s called a series of photos. A series of photos is usually made up of three or more photographs about the same topic. This semester, you have been learning basic photography skills, like framing, rule of thirds, edge framing, leading lines, composition, frame within a frame, low angles, etc. that help you create interesting photographs, no matter what the story is. That is why you practice when you make sketchbook assignments! Visual storytelling is a way for a photographer to narrate a story with a series of photographs. ... Captions are also an integral part of a photo story that should help the viewer understand each image. Use the title I suggest or make up one of your own and create a photo story. How would you photograph your street? Using leading lines? From a low angle? Would you photograph your home using edge framing? The only way to figure it out is to just do it. Remember your Light Shadow and Reflection Worksheet? The sheet you were asked to fill out while completing your Light Shadow and Reflection Assignment ?(it is still going to be due) Download it and fill it out! Here are some suggestions: 2. My New Normal: A day in my life My weekend My family My house My street My neighborhood What are some obvious differences in your life since Corona Virus? How are you coping with social distancing, self quarantine and self isolation? The idea is for you to photograph situations and routines of your daily life that have noticeably changed. For example, how unusual is it to be eating lunch with your parents during the week? What new situations are you in that are different, yet enjoyable? Do you watch more movies together as a family? Or maybe situations you are now in that aren't so enjoyable? What are they? Do you play a sport? How about photographing your uniform - your unused uniform! Do you play an instrument? If you have it at home, take some photos. Or, even take a photo of a picture of your instrument.
